For my comparison, I hooked up both the original Zen DAC and the Zen DAC V2 to my HP Envy X360 laptop. I played a wide variety of music via the TIDAL Desktop app, listening with a pair of Hifiman SUNDARA headphones connected to both 3.5mm single-ended output and the 4.4mm balanced output. Denon AH-D9200 (balanced): Well this thing needs no power, so that's fine. I gets very V-shaped with the bass function haha. It sounds clean, but i prefer it on the Oor for the class A goodness (a bit less sharp).

Unglaublicher Sound! Wenn mann nur mit Kopfhörer am PC sitzt ist eine Soundkarte absolut unnötig!!! I am a big fan of the retro-inspired look of the Zen DAC. It has a 60’s vibe to it, with the angles are brushed metal. The design is “unique” in a way as it doesn’t follow the trend of looking like something from the future. The whole thing has a bit of weight to it, which is nice to have. This sits perfectly on my desk and doesn’t budge at all.’ DACs convert digital information, stored or streamed by computers, into music we can hear through speakers or headphones.The setup: I’m using this as a dac with the rca line out to my Onkyo amplifier in direct mode. Speakers are Wharfedale Denton 80’s.

Via the Balanced out, the Zen DAC V2 had way more than enough power to drive these planar cans, producing a nice listening volume at about a quarter-turn of the knob. And yes, you should pair both ZEN products via a balanced cable to have their balanced circuits engaged. To benefit from the balanced topology you would need headphones with a balanced plug (4.4mm).War nach Anschaffung meiner Sennheiser HD660s auf der Suche nach einem qualitativ hochwertig verarbeiteten DAC zu einem vertretbaren Preis um diese gut befeuern zu können. Sound quality is gret, I am truly impressed. The volume though, I was blown away. I am not sure how they are doing this on usb. It is twice as loud as the modi2/magni2.

While the Chord Hugo 2 is, like the Mojo 2, battery-powered, its price, performance and connectivity make it just as suitable for system environments as desktop ones. Bass is just slightly accentuated but not in a bad way, it makes a more musical experience. Midrange is lush and treble is very soft. With iFi's Zen Dac V2, I can enjoy all my albums without worrying a piercing treble response. In addition, it preserves a very good technical level, so you don't loose any detail or relevant information, it's just presented in a different way. Starting as a rib producer of AMR, IFI presented a series of products for both desktop and mobile that are extremely valid and of undoubted value for money ranging from the mid-range (the various iDSDs, iCANs and companions) to the top one (with the excellent Pro iDSD ), without neglecting the mobile market (the amazing xDSD and xCAN ).
