Aquatex ® is a ready-to-use aqueous mounting medium used primarily in connection with hematology specimens stained by means of enzyme-cytochemical reactions. It can also be used for mounting purposes in connection with immunohistological specimens or histological lipid stains in frozen sections, e. g. using Oil red O staining solution (Product number 1.02419). Yes, Aquatexx EV® fabric is 100% waterproof due to a combination of Teflon® fabric treatment and a specialist technical coating. This causes water to bead and run off, keeping the outer fabric drier for longer. If the waterproofing quality of the canvas has been affected, the damage can usually be rectified by using "AquaTex" impregnator spray. The awning must be thoroughly dry and clean before application. "AquaTex" will not function on dirt; therefore, the canvas should be sprayed on the inside of the awning. If there are any leaks in the material, "AquaTex" will penetrate and be effective on the outside as well. If the material is very dry, you may notice some discolouration on the outside. To regularise the colour, simply spray on the outside as well. DON'T FORGET it is most important to clean the awning inside and out BEFORE impregnation as any deposits on the material will negate the properties of the "AquaTex". During longer periods of rain, the water will slowly start to wet the fabric surface, however, no water will penetrate through the fabric. Once fully dried, the outer water repellency and beading effect will return.
